2SC3807 Transistor Explained / Description:
Today we are going to discuss a very interesting NPN transistor called the 2SC3807, available in TO-126 package. The transistor has some very good features such as a DC current gain of 800 to 3200, low collector-emitter voltage, transition frequency of 260MHz etc.
Looking at the absolute maximum ratings of the transistor the collector-emitter voltage is 25V, collector current is 2A, collector to base voltage is 30V, emitter-base voltage is 15V, collector dissipation is 1.2W, junction temperature is 150°C and storage temperature is from -55°C to 150°C.
The transistor is designed to be used in general purpose audio amplifiers of low frequency type and drivers, but it can also be used in other general purpose applications.
How to Use This Transistor:
To use the transistor as an amplifier the signals that you want to amplify should be applied to its base, emitter pin will be connected with the negative rail of the circuit and the amplified output will be received at the collector pin. This is a basic procedure how this transistor works or can be used. To make a proper working circuit you have to use some passive components for doing so you need some knowledge and experience of electronics and audio amplifier circuits.
Applications:
Audio Amplifiers
RF Circuits
Battery charger circuits
PWM controllers
Switching Circuits
Variety of General Purpose Applications
Safe Operating Guidelines:
Here are some guidelines to use the transistor wisely.
- To safely operate the transistor always use it at least 20% to 30% below from its absolute maximum ratings.
- Always use a suitable heatsink with the transistor.
- Always store or use the transistor at temperature above -55°C and below 150°C.
