LM324 Description

LM324 is a famous operational amplifier IC, it is widely used in commercial devices and also used by electronic hobbyists, engineering students, engineers, and tinkerers around the world. It is manufactured in 14 pin DIP package, 14 SOP and other package. The IC contains four high gain operational amplifiers which are independent from each other. You can use one or two op-amp from the four or you can also use four at once. The power supply input for all the fours op-amp Pin4 (Positive Supply) and Pin11 (Ground / Negative Supply).

The minimum operating voltage is only 3VDC and the minimum current consumption is only 0.7mA to 0.8ma therefore this IC can be used where high gain and low power and current consumption circuitry is required for example in portable and battery operated devices.

LM124, LM224, LM2902 are the exact equivalents of LM324. Other possible equivalents are LF147, LF347, LM837. Moreover two LM358 IC can be also be used as equivalents each LM358 contains two op-amps.

 

How to Safely Long Run in a Circuit

For long term performance it is recommended to not use IC above it max limits. Do not operate the IC with more than 32C DC. Always check the polarity of the supply you are applying to the IC. Reverse polarity can damage the internal circuitry of the chip. Always operate the IC in temperature above 0 degree Celsius and below +70 degree Celsius. And store in temperature above -65 degree Celsius and below +150 degree Celsius.
