KSC1845 Transistor Explained / Description:

If you are looking for a transistor with a high DC current gain, good transition frequency and high collector to emitter voltage then KSC1845 might be a good choice. KSC1845 is an NPN BJT transistor available in TO-92 package. The transistor is designed to use in audio frequency low noise amplifier applications and due to its low noise and high gain characteristics it can be used in wide variety of audio preamplifier and signal amplification applications.

The maximum collector to emitter voltage of the transistor is 120V; maximum collector current is 50mA, max collector power dissipation is 500mW, max transition frequency is 110MHz, and the max junction temperature is 150 °C.

As discussed above the it has quite good DC current gain parameter which is from 150 to 1200. However, the transistor is available in four different DC current gain or hFE classification which can be determined by the alphabet used after the part number. If that alphabet is “P” then the gain value will be 200 to 400, if its “F” then the gain values will be 300 to 600, if “E” then the gain value will be 400 to 800 and if “U” then its gain value will be from 600 to 1200.

Where We Can Use it & How to Use:

KSC1845 is primarily built to use in audio frequency low noise amplifier applications but other than that it can also be used in wide variety of other applications such as signal amplification, due to its low noise and high gain features it can be used to amplify any type of low gain signals in electronics. It can also be used in Radio and RF applications under 110MHz frequency. Another advantage of this transistor is that you can use it in circuits up to 120V or load up to 120V, as it has a collector-to-emitter voltage of 120V. It can also be used as a switch to drive a load of 50mA.

Applications:

Audio amplifiers

Audio preamplifiers

Radio and RF Applications

Low Gain Signal Amplification

Switching

Safe Operating Guidelines / Absolute Maximum Ratings:

For safe operating do not use the transistor on its absolute maximum ratings and use it at least 20% below from these ratings. The maximum collector to emitter voltage is 120V therefore do not drive load of more than 96V. The maximum collector current is 50mA so do not drive load of more than 40mA and always store or operate the transistor at temperature above -55°C and below +150 °C.
