BUK453-100A/B MOSFET Explained / Description

BUK453-100 is an N channel MOSFET transistor available in TO-220, TO-220AB and TO-220C packages. BUK453-100 MOSFET transistor is primarily designed for high speed and general purpose switching and can be used in wide variety of switching applications. Other than that it can also be used in amplification purposes such as in stages of high power audio amplifiers.

The transistor is available in two different versions which are BUK453-100A and BUK453-100B both versions are slightly different from each other but can be used in the place of each other.

The maximum drain current of the “100A” version is 14A while the other version’s “100B” maximum drain current is 13A. The maximum drain to source voltage of both versions is 100V and the maximum power dissipation of both is 75 Watts. Additionally the  maximum gate to source voltage of both versions is also same which is ±30V.

BUK453-100 can be used for wide variety of switching purposes for example it can be used to drive and control motors, SM Power supplies, AC to AC, DC to DC and AC to DC converter circuits, other than that it can be used for variety of switching applications or driving load under its capabilities. For safe operations and to get long term performance with this transistor use it 20% below from its absolute maximum ratings. The maximum drain to source current is 13A to 14A therefore do not drive load of more than 10.4A. The maximum drain to source voltage is 100V hence do not drive load of more than 80V. Use a suitable heatsink with the transistor and always store of operate the device in temperature above -55°C and below +175 °C.
