LM7805 Description

LM7805 is a 5V output positive voltage regulator IC. It is the IC of LM78xx positive voltage regulator series. This series also contains other fixed voltage regulator ICs like LM7806, LM7808, LM7809, LM7812, LM7815, LM7824 etc.


It is manufactured in TO-220 and other packages. This IC is quite reliable due to which it is widely used in commercial equipment and educational project. Moreover it is also used by many electronics hobbyists and tinkerers in their projects due to its low cost, easy to use and low external components. Replacement and Equivalent / Other Part Numbers

LM340, LM340A and LM1084-5.0 can be used as equivalent of LM7805, if these are not available you can also use an LM317 IC to get fixed 5V output.


How to Safely Long Run in a Circuit

For stable and long term performance it is suggested to not operate load more than 1.5A, always use a suitable heatsink with it, always check pinout before using in your application and do not operate in temperature below 0 degree Celsius and above +125 degree Celsius and always store in temperature above -65 degree Celsius and below +150 degree Celsius.
