2N4427 Transistor Explained / Description:
2N4427 is an NPN transistor designed to be used in UHF and VHF applications. The transistor is having some very good features such as transition frequency of upto 500MHz, metal body, high temperature capability of upto 200°C.
Looking at the pinout of the transistor nearest pin from the tab is called pin1 and it is Emitter, the middle pin is pin2 and it is Base and the last pin that is pin3 it is called Collector.
The absolute maximum ratings of the transistor are as follows: collector-emitter voltage is 20V, collector current is 400mA, emitter-base voltage is 2V, collector-base voltage is 40V, total device dissipation is 1Watt, junction temperature is 200°C and storage temperature is -65°C to +200°C.
Where and How to Use This Transistor:
This is a RF transistor so it will be used in RF applications. Each RF application is built according to the frequency requirements and all the passive components values are selected carefully to work on that required frequency. For example if you are building a toy remote car circuit then first you have to decide the output frequency at which your application will communicate, after that you have to build your circuit around 2n4427 transistor on that frequency.
Applications:
RF Circuits
Audio Amplification
Signal Amplification
Switching Loads under 400mA
Many General Purpose Applications
Safe Operating Guidelines:
To get good and long term performance with the transistor do not drive the transistor to its absolute maximum ratings and stay atleast 20% below from these ratings. Always use a heatsink with the transistor and check pinout before placing in your circuit. And always store or operate the transistor at temperature above -65°C and below +200°C.
