KSE350 Transistor Explained / Description

KSE350 is a high voltage PNP transistor available in TO-126 package.  The transistor had quite a good collector-emitter voltage of upto -300V which makes it suitable to use in variety of high voltage applications such as in transformers, AC circuits, power supply circuits etc. The other featureS of the transistor are low collector saturation voltage, lot-to-lot variations are minimum, and high breakdown voltage of collector-emitter.

Looking at the absolute maximum ratings of the transistor the max collector-base voltage is -300V, max collector-emitter voltage is -300V, max collector current is -500mA, max emitter-base voltage is -5V and max collector dissipation is 20W.

The electrical characteristics of the transistor is also quite acceptable. It has a DC current gain of 30 to 240, Emitter cutoff current is -100uA and collector cutoff current is also -100uA.

Safe Operating Guidelines

For good long-life performance of the transistor, it is important to know the safe operating guidelines when using this transistor. First of all, it is important to note that do not operate the transistor on its absolute maximum ratings because using the transistor on its absolute max ratings can lead to internal damage of the transistor immediately or it can also weaken its performance in the long run. So it is important to use every transistor 20% below from its absolute maximum ratings such as the collector-emitter voltage is -300V therefore do not dive load of more than -240V. The max collector current is 500mA so the driven load should be up to 400mA. Use a suitable heatsink with the transistor and always store or operate the transistor at temperatures above -55°C and below 150°C.
