IRFZ46N MOSFET Explained / Description

IRFZ46N is an N Channel MOSFET available in TO-220 package. This transistor can be used in wide variety of applications. The transistor can drive max load of 53A and 180A in pulse mode. The maximum load voltage is 55V and power dissipation of the transistor is 107 Watt. The transistor features high switching speed which makes it ideal to use in applications where high speed is crucial such UPS applications.

The maximum storage and operating temperature of the device is between -55 to +175 degree Celsius, the soldering temperature limit is 300 centigrade for 10 seconds which means that while soldering this transistor can survive in temperature of 300 degree centigrade but it become burnout from inside or outside if this temperature will continue for more than 10 seconds.

Other than that this transistor can also be used for audio amplification purposes and also in audio amplifier stages.

How to Safely Long Run in a Circuit

To get long life performance with IRFZ46N always use it 20% below from its max ratings. The max continuous drain current of the transistor is 53A therefore do not load of more than 42.4A. The max drain to source voltage is 55V therefore stay under 44V. Place a suitable heatsink with the transistor and always use or store this device in temperature above -55 degree Celsius and below +175 degree Celsius.
