IRLB8721 Transistor Explained / Description:
IRLB8721 or IRLB8721PbF is an N channel power MOSFET available in TO-220 transistor package. The device is primarily designed for UPS, H.F Buck Converters, H.F DC to DC converters used in telecommunication and also industrial usage. But it can also be used in variety of other general purpose applications and can be directly operated with the integrated circuits or from electronic platforms like arduino and raspberry pi.
The transistor has many build in features which are fast switching speed which makes it ideal to use in applications where fast switching is crucial. The static to drain resistance in ON state is only 8.7m Ω, 100% avalanche tested, ultra low gate impedance etc.

Safe Operating Guidelines / Absolute Maximum Ratings:
For safe operating the transistor the user must follow these guidelines. Do not use the transistor on its absolute maximum ratings, for long term good performance use it 20% below from its absolute maximum ratings. The maximum continuous drain current is 62A so do not drive load of more than 49.6A, the maximum drain to source voltage is 30V therefore do not drive load of more than 24V. Use a suitable heatsink with the transistor and always store or operate the transistor in temperature above -55°C and below +175 °C.
