IRF9640 MOSFET Explained / Description
IRF3708 is an N channel SMPS MOSFET available in TO-220 and other packages. The continuous drain current of the transistor is 62A and the maximum drain to source voltage is 30V. The pulsed drain current of the transistor is quite high that is 248A due to which this transistor can be used in applications where high pulsed current is expected or required.
IRF3708 can be used for verity of general purpose switching purposes and it can also be used in applications that require high speed switching. Moreover it can also be used in DC to DC converters and buck converters.
Other than that it can be used for audio amplification and in variety of audio amplification stages.

To get long term performance with any component we always suggest to not use a component to its maximum ratings and always use it 20% below from its maximum ratings therefore same goes with the IRF3708 MOSFET, the maximum continuous drain current of the transistor is 62A therefore do not drive load of more than 49.6A. The maximum drain to source voltage is 30V therefore do not drive load of more than 24V. Moreover the max pulse drain current is 248A therefore do not drive max load of more than 198.4 in pulse. Use a suitable heatsink with the transistor and always store and operate the transistor in temperature above -55 degree Celsius and below +175 degree Celsius.
