2SD2499 Transistor Explained / Description:

2SD2499 is an NPN transistor manufactured in TO-3PF or also called TO-3PM package. The transistor has quite interesting capabilities and it is primarily built for using in TV or monitor horizontal deflection application circuitry. But it is not limited to these uses, its high speed and high voltage capabilities makes it ideal to use in many high voltage applications upto 600V and also in high speed switching applications.

Moreover the collector current of the transistor is 6A which mean it can drive load of upto 6A continuously. But some manufacturers also make it with 5A collector current therefore it is important to confirm the collector current of the transistor from the manufacturer you are buying it and then drive load according to it.

Another plus point of this transistor is its low saturation voltage which is only 5V max. The minimum and maximum DC current gain of the transistor is 8 to 25, The maximum power dissipation is 50 Watts and the transition frequency is 2MHz.


Where We Can Use It & How to Use:

As mentioned above that the transistor is primarily designed to use in TV and monitor deflection circuitry but its good specs also makes it ideal to use in many high voltage and high speed switching applications and wide variety of general purpose applications. For getting long term and stable performance with this transistor the user must not use this device on its absolute maximum ratings and always stay 20% below to get long life performance with this device. The maximum collector current of the transistor is 6A therefore do not drive load of more than 4.8A. The maximum collector to emitter voltage is 600V so do not drive load of more than 480V. Use a suitable heatsink with the transistor and always store or operate the transistor in temperature above -55°C and below +150 °C.
