BC549 Transistor Explained / Description:

BC549 is a widely used transistor and it is mostly used in variety of general purpose applications in electronic circuits. The noise figure value of the transistor is only 1.2db which is a quite good value to use this transistor in audio related applications, the maximum DC current gain is 800 and max collector dissipation is 0.5W which are other good features of this transistor to use it in audio pre amplification and amplification applications. Moreover this transistor can also be used as a switch or controlling variety of loads under 100mA.

This transistor is available in different part numbers and all the part numbers have different current gain value like BC549 current gain value is from 110 to 800, BC549A is from 110 to 220, BC549B is from 200 to 450, BC549C is from 420 to 800.

Where We Can Use BC549 & How to Use:

It can be used in many general purpose applications for example it can be used in audio amplifier and audio preamplifier circuits, it can also be used for signal amplification purposes due to its high gain features, the emitter base voltage is only 5V due to which it can be used at the output of the microcontrollers, with the 100mA collector current it can be used to control variety of loads in the electronic circuit like relays, LEDs, power transistors, mosfets etc.

Applications:

Audio Preamplification

Darlington Pairs

Microcontrollers Output

Audio Amplification

Variety Audio Related Applications

Signal Amplification

Switching Loads Under 100mA

How to Safely Long Run in a Circuit:

To get best performance with this transistor it is suggested not drive load more than 100mA, driving load more than 100mA may burn the transistor or make it weak in performance. Do not drive load above 30V, always use a suitable base resistor, avoid accidently connecting the wrong pins in the circuit, always store or use in the temperature above -65 centigrade and below +150 centigrade.
