2SD1207 Transistor Explained / Description:

2SD1207 is a NPN transistor available in TO-92L package. The transistor has some good features such as good collector current, collector-emitter voltage of up to 50V, transition frequency of up to 150MHz. All these features makes it suitable for wide variety of applications such as switching circuits, power supplies, lamp driver, relay driver etc.

Looking at the absolute maximum ratings of the transistor the collector to emitter voltage 50V, collector current is 2A, collector-base voltage is 60V, emitter to base voltage is 6V, collector dissipation is 1W, junction temperature is 150°C and storage temperature is  -55°C to 150°C.

The transistor is manufactured in two different versions according to its DC current gain and can be identified with the help of the alphabet written after the part number. If that alphabet is “S” then the DC current gain will be140 to 280 and if the alphabet is “T” then its gain will be from 200 to 400.

How to Use This Transistor:

2SD1207 is a BJT so the procedure of using this transistor is same as we use any other BJT (bipolar junction transistor) by applying signal to its base, connecting its the emitter pin with the negative supply of the circuit and getting output from its collector.

Applications:

Audio Amplifiers

Audio Amps Driver Stages

RF Circuits

Preamplifier Circuits

Switching applications

Variety of General Other Purpose Applications

Safe Operating Guidelines:

Follow these guidelines to safely operate the transistor:

  • For safetly of the component and getting long term  performance always use the transistor at least 20% below from its absolute maximum ratings.
  • The maximum collector-emitter voltage is 50V but according to the above 20% rule we will only use 40V.
  • The max collector current is 2A but same as above we will use 80% of the total which will be 1.6A.
  • The storage and operating temperature range is from -55°C to 150°C.
