2N2369 Transistor Explained / Description:

2N2369 is a quite useful transistor having some very good features. It is an NPN transistor available in TO-18 package and designed to use in switching and VHF applications such as VHF amplification. The transistor is capable of fast switching so it is an ideal transistor to use in applications where high speed switching is required. Moreover the maximum transition frequency of the transistor is 500MHz due to which it can be used in high frequency applications such as FM TX, FM radios and variety of other RF applications. But it is not limited to these uses and can be used in wide variety of other applications which are mentioned under the applications heading below. Moreover it also has good temperature range such as the maximum storage temperature is 150°C, maximum junction temperature is 200°C and max operating ampient temperature is also 150°C.

Looking at the other ratings of the transistor the max collector to base voltage in open emitter condition is 40V, max collector to emitter voltage in open base condition is 15V, max emitter to base voltage in open collector condition is 5V, maximum collector current is 200mA, max turn off time is 30ns, minimum and maximum DC current gain is 40 to 120, peak pulsed collector current is 300mA, peak base current is 100mA and total power dissipation is 360mW.

Where We Can Use It & How to Use:

As mentioned the transistor mainly designed for switching and VHF amplification purposes but it is not limited to these uses and can also be used in variety of general purpose applications such as audio amplification, sensor circuits, FM radio and TX applications etc. The using procedure of the transistor is same as we use other BJT transistors.

Applications:

Switching Loads under 200mA

Audio Preamplifiers

Audio Amplifiers

FM Senders

FM Radios

Sensor Circuits

Safe Operating Guidelines / Absolute Maximum Ratings:

For safe operating the transistor it is essential to understand the absolute maximum ratings of the transistor and some other factors. It is suggested to always use a transistor 20% blow from its absolute maximum ratings therefore same goes with the 2N2369 transistor. The maximum collector to emitter voltage is 15V therefore do not drive load of more than 12V, maximum collector current is 200mA so do not drive load of more than 140mA, and always store or operate at temperatures above -65°C and below 150°C.
