MPSA06 Transistor Explained / Description:

MPSA05 is a NPN BJT transistor build for general purpose switching and amplification purposes. The transistor is having quite good specs due to which it can be used in wide variety of applications and can also be replaced with the widely used 2N3904, 2N2222, BC337 etc. The maximum collector-emitter voltage is 60V due to which it can drive load of upto 60 volts with the load current of 500mA. The minimum collector-emitter saturation voltage is only 0.25V which is another good feature if you want to use this transistor at places where you want to drive the transistor with very little voltage.

Moreover the maximum collector of 625mW and the DC current gain of 100 also makes this transistor suitable to use as an audio amplifier.

Where We Can Use it & How to Use:

MPSA05 is a transistor which can be used almost any applications falls under its ratings. If it is used as a switch it can drive load of upto 500mA which is a quite enough current to drive variety of components in electronic circuits such as relays, LEDs, High power transistor, part of a circuit etc. It can also be used as an amplifier for example as a separate audio amplifier at the audio output stage to drive a speaker or it can also be used in audio amplifier stages. Other than that the 100MHz transition frequency also makes it applicable to use in RF circuits undre 100MHz.

Applications:

Switching loads upto 500mA

Audio amplification

Telecommunication circuits

RF Applications

Darlington pairs

Many general purpose applications

How to Safely Long Run in a Circuit:

For getting long term performance with any component we always suggest to use it atleast 20% below from its maximum ratings and same apply to the MPSA05 transistor. The maximum collector current is 500mA therefore do not drive load of more than 400mA. The maximum collector to emitter voltage is 60V thus do not drive load of more than 48V and always store and operate the device in temperature above -55 degree Celsius and below +150 degree Celsius.
