MJE340 Transistor Explained / Description:
MJE340 is a TO-126 package NPN silicon BJT transistor designed for high voltage applications. The Maximum collector-emitter and collector-base voltage of the transistor is upto 300V which makes it ideal to use in wide variety of high voltage applications. The device can be used with any general high voltage switching application for the max load of 0.5A or 500mA DC. Additionally it can also be used for switching in low power and battery operated applications.
MJE340 is not only limited to use for above mentioned purposes however it can also be used for amplification purposes, also the 20W collector dissipation makes it ideal to use in many general purpose audio amplification purposes.
Where We Can Use it & How to Use:
MJE340 can be used to switch and drive high voltage applications and loads for upto 500mA DC. It can drive variety of loads in high voltage circuits such as other high power transistors, relays, switches etc.
Moreover it can also be used in low voltage of battery operated circuits to drive low voltage relays, LEDs, Switches, high ampere transistors etc. Other than that it can also be used as a separate audio amplifier at the output of an audio equipment to drive a speaker directly or it can also be used in stages of an audio amplifier circuit.

How to Safely Long Run in a Circuit:
For getting a long term and stable performance from a component we always suggest to not touch its maximum specs limits and it’s better to always stay atleast 20% below its maximum ratings, this rule apply to all components and hence it will also apply on MJE340 too. The max load this transistor can handle is 500mA therefore use it to drive 400mA to be safe. The max load voltage is 300V (Apply max 240 to be safe). Use a suitable heatsink with the transistor and always store and operate in temperature above -65 centigrade and below +150 centigrade.
