2SD965 Transistor Explained / Description
2SD965 is an NPN BJT transistor manufactured in TO-92 by many components manufacturers and also in other packages by some manufacturers. The transistor is having a very unique feature that makes it special from other general purpose TO-92 transistors. It is designed as a low voltage and high current device thus the collector current of the transistor is upto 5A which makes it ideal to use in wide variety of applications where there is requirement to drive high current loads. The DC current gain of 230 to 600 and collector dissipation of 750mW also makes it ideal to use as an amplifier or preamplifier in many amplification related application. Moreover the 100MHz transition frequency also makes it suitable to use in RF circuits that works under 100 MHz frequencies.

The 2SD965 transistor can be used in wide variety of general purpose switching and amplification applications. How to Get Long Life Performance in a Circuit
To get long term performance from any component we suggest not using a component on its maximum ratings and always use it atleast 20% below from its max ratings. The max collector current of this transistor is 5A therefore do not drive load of more than 4A. The max collector to emitter voltage is 20V therefore stay under 16V and whether it is in use or storage do not expose it to temperature below -55 centigrade and above +150 centigrade.
