2N3702 Transistor Explained / Description:

2N3702 is a general purpose TO-92 package PNP transistor designed to be used in switching and amplifier applications. The transistor has many good features which makes it ideal to use in wide variety of other applications such as RF, preamplifier etc. Some good features of the transistor are high collector current, good DC current gain, and good transition frequency.

Looking at the absolute maximum ratings of the transistor the collector-emitter voltage is -25V, collector current is -500mA, collector base voltage is -40V, emitter-base voltage is -5V, total device dissipation of 625mW, and storage and operating junction temperature is -55°C to 150°C.

Some electrical characteristics of the transistor are DC current gain of 60 to 300, transition frequency of 100MHz, emitter cut-off current is -100nA and collector cut-off current is -100nA.

Where and How to Use This Transistor:

2N3702 has very good electrical characteristics which makes it ideal for wide variety of applications. Moreover, it is a BJT transistor so the using procedure is same as we use any other BJT transistor by providing signal to its base, connecting its emitter with the positive rail of the circuit and taking output from the collector, this is a simple way to understand how a bipolar junction transistor works or how to use this transistor, now it depends on user’s requirements for which purpose they want to use it such as switching, amplification, etc. and each circuit require different passive components and configurations.

Applications:

Audio Preamplifier Circuits

Audio Amplifier Circuits

Switching Applications

RF Applications

Signal Amplification

Darlington Pairs

Safe Operating Guidelines:

Follow these guidelines to safely operate the transistor:

  • Always operate the transistor at least 20% below from its absolute maximum ratings.
  • The max collector-emitter voltage is 25V but by following the above guideline we will not drive load of more than 20V.
  • The max collector current is -500mA but we will not drive load of more than -400mA.
  • Always check pin layout before using in the circuit.
  • The storage and operating temperature should be between -55°C to 150°C.
