KTC9015 Transistor Explained / Description:
C9015 is an interesting small signal transistor that can be used in switching and variety of general electronics applications. The transistor has some good features such as good collector-emitter voltage, low noise performance, DC current gain of upto 1000 and availability of its complimentary NPN transistor.
Looking at the absolute maximum ratings of the transistor the collector-emitter voltage is -50V, collector current is -150mA, collector-base voltage is -50V, emitter-base voltage is -5mA, collector power dissipation is 625mW, junction temperature is 150°C and storage temperature is from -55°C to 150°C.
KTC9015 is manufactured in 4 different versions according to its DC current gain. The gain of each version can be determined with the help of an alphabet / letter written after the part number. The below details show how we can identify how much gain a KTC9015 transistor has by looking at these alphabets.
A=60 to 150
B=100 to 300
C=200 to 600
Now let’s talk about the applications in which we can use this transistor. The transistor has very good characteristics; therefore, it can be used in a wide variety of applications such as amplifiers, low-noise applications, preamplifiers, switching circuits, and more. The detailed list of its applications can be found under the Applications heading below.
How to Use This Transistor:
KTC9015 is a PNP bipolar junction transistor and its pins are emitter, base and collector. So a PNP transistor is used by applying signal (which you want to amplify or from which you want to control the load) to its base pin, connecting the emitter pin with the positive supply of the circuit and the final output will be received at the collector pin whether you are using it as an amplifier or as a switch. If you are using the transistor as an amplifier then the amplified output will be received at the collector and if you are using it as a switch then you can connect the load with the collector.
But you also have to use some passive components to make the circuit more effective and you must require some basic electronics knowledge and also some experience.
Applications:
Sensor Circuits
Audio Amplifiers
Audio Preamplifiers
Signal Amplification
Switching loads under 100mA
Darlington Pairs
And more
Safe Operating Guidelines:
For safe operating the transistor do not drive the transistor to its absolute maximum ratings and always stay at least 20% below from these ratings. Always confirm pinouts before using in your circuit. The operating and storing temperature should be between -55°C to 150°C.
