KTC9014 Transistor Explained / Description:

As discussed C9014 is a very interesting transistor designed for switching and other general purpose applications. The transistor is packed with some of very interesting features such as good collector-emitter voltage, DC current gain of up to 1000, low noise performance and availability of PNP complimentary transistor.

The absolute maximum ratings of the transistor are as follows: the collector-emitter voltage is 50V, collector current is 150mA, collector-base voltage is 60V, emitter-base voltage is 5V, collector power dissipation is 625mW, junction temperature is 150°C and storage temperature is from -55°C to 150°C.

The transistor has quite high DC current gain that is from 60 to 1000. There are several variations of this transistor based on its DC current gain which can be identified by the letter (alphabet) written after their part number. Here are the details of each alphabet and its gain value:

A=60 to 150,

B=100 to 300,

C=200 to 600

D=400 to 1000

KTC9014 can be used in many applications such as amplifiers, preamplifiers, low noise amplifiers and switching circuits. A detailed list of its applications can be found under the applications heading below.

How to Use This Transistor:

It is a NPN bipolar junction transistor with 3 pins which are emitter, base and collector. The emitter pin will be connected with the negative supply or ground of the circuit, the signal that you want to amplify or from which you want to control the output load will be applied to the base pin and the amplifier output will be received from the collector pin in an amplifier circuit and in switch circuit the load will be connected with the collector pin.

This is a basic guidelines on how to use the transistor but you also have to use some passive components to make the circuit more effective. For doing so some basic knowledge of electronics and some experience of circuits will be required.

Applications:

Audio Preamplifiers

Audio Amplifiers

Sensor Circuits

Signal Amplification

Switching loads under 100mA

Darlington Pairs

Safe Operating Guidelines:

To safely use the transistor it is important to always use the transistor within its absolute maximum ratings, ideally at least 20% below the max ratings. Always check pin layout of the transistor before placing in a circuit or when designing a circuit and operate and store at temperature above -55°C and below 150°C.
